The Captain’s Last
Sea Breeze lifted his hair and swayed with it, eyes closed he breathes in the air and can immediately picture the crispy water painted a beautiful orange by the setting sun. Wrinkled hands hold firm a weathered railing off on the side of the boat, glorious boat as loyal as man’s best friend. Loyal boat that withstood poseidion’s rage in the form of harsh waves that time and time again battered it with their unrelenting persistence. Chipped paint brown rust on its metal screws assist the Captain’s weak eyes, tired limbs and wrinkles the well-known marks of time. The Boat creakes and makes unnatural sounds as it sputters a tale of a great life reaching its end, the Captain cringes over and holds the railing tighter, the pain is worse. He knows whats next, yes a severe coughing ensues, however its different this time the encore was ended with bright red blood. Wiping his mouth he makes himself stand tall as he looks out to the sea, alone with his boat sailing away into the coming night and the precious sea.
